Boo Mama’s 2008 Christmas Tour of Homes
and
This is my 2nd year participating in Boo Mama’s Tour of Homes, my first with Hooked on Holiday House Tours. I’m so excited about both that I’m up at midnight!

I concentrated last year on some of the great deals I’ve gotten on Christmas decor threw out the years, I’d like to do the same this year. I buy Christmas decor anytime of the year I find a good deal on it, sometimes a tree isn’t exactly what I had in mind the first year; but will become, with time, one of my favorites. That’s what happened with my back yard tree this year but I’m getting ahead of myself. The point is, I don’t spend big bucks, I take my time and find good deals and by no means did I do it all in one year, I’ll likely be working on my “Christmas collection” for the rest of my life

So without further ado, Welcome to my Very Merry Frugal Christmas
I retired the 7 1/2 Foot formal Tree this year as earlier this year I also retired the “formal” living room, it’s now what it should always have been, a room for my kids. I replaced the big tree with an idea I got from the tour last year, actually I think it was an idea I got from our host, Boo Mama herself. I loved her Christmas Card tree so we’ve been filling ours as the cards come in.
First off on our “Frugal tour” is the entry tree I added last year after Christmas, 50% off at CVS and I used Extra Care bucks to pay for most of it, out of pocket it cost me $11
I keep the lights burning threw out the year (sort of a pretty night light) and change the foil tinsel with the holiday. Here’s the Christmas card tree (in the kids living room) I told you about earlier, I bought the tree from a yard sale a few years ago for $10 and the beautiful decorations come in the mail box every now and then all month long.
The Penguin trio was an after Christmas purchase last year, 90% off, I think I paid $1.40 for it.
The penguins sing and dance, Savannah loves it. I added icicle lights to the new fence behind the pool this year, you can see them threw the back door, I love to sit outside and see the reflection in the water. I bought the two gold tree’s on the mantel at a yard sale for $2 a couple years ago. I bought the Santa clock which plays a different Christmas song every hour, at Walgreens in November with Register Rewards, out of pocket I paid $9.
My dinning room tree and a ceramic tree I rescued from the rubble of a fire that burned my Grandpa’s house to the ground last year. It was covered in soot, I brought it home, 1200 miles from SC to TX, cleaned it up, put new bulbs it and now I have something beautiful for my Christmas collection that belonged to my Papa.
The dinning room tree is where we put all our family ornaments, I collect ornaments whenever we go on vacation. This is my 2nd favorite tree this year and here are some of my favorite ornaments on it.
Fred bought me the cute little teacher ornament this year and the one beside it came from the Grand Canyon while we were out west this year. The Sand Dollar came from Myrtle Beach about 3 years ago, I love hanging them on the tree and remembering the fun we had at each place.
My favorite tree this year is my patio tree, I bought the tree itself at a yard sale a few years ago for $15, last year was it’s first year outside and some of you will remember it only had the poinsettias on it last year. This year in keeping with my “beach” theme I added some pretty shells.
Most of the shells came from an estate sale I went to earlier this year and I picked up the star fish at Walmart. Fred showed me how to use the drill and I drilled the holes myself
I was very pleased, didn’t break even one.I’m still not totally in love with Trey and Savannah’s trees but they’re a work in progress, I add ornaments each year and when they grow up and move out they’ll have a nice stash of Christmas ornaments to take with them.
The part I like most about these tree’s at this point is that they look pretty from the outside and T and S both love to sleep by the light of their trees. Fred (dh) adds a little to my
obsessioncollection every year with gifts like this old world santa who at present sits on top of the fridge in the kitchen. The Dancing Santa is something I picked up a few years ago at a yard sale, I paid $25, at the time they were still selling at Wal-mart for close to $100
I bought the Penguin last year for Savannah, I used CVS extra care bucks and paid $4 out of pocket
Savannah loves to bake with me anytime of year but we tend to do more at Christmas time. Fred (dh) bought her a pretty little apron the other day and she’s enjoyed “playing cook” all week… She sets up a station at the kitchen bar and “sells” her goods to Daddy and Trey.
Well this is Christmas at our house, I’m looking forward to seeing Christmas at your house. Check out all the other Boo Mama participants by clicking the here and here!

Have a Wonderful and Blessed Christmas!

love you
I love those after Christmas sales! Your home is beautiful!
I love your Christmas decorations and the fantastic way you gave us a tour of your home. Like your children, I too grew up falling asleep to a Christmas tree…such sweet memories! I have a 4 month old and she now sleeps by my small Christmas tree (well she’s in the crib, and the tree is on the dresser…well you get the point:) ). I LOVE your outside tree…how creative! Merry Christmas from Cordova, TN!
Enjoyed the tour and especially like your patio tree. What a great idea!
your home looks so great, you did a great job and wish I had some of those cookies!! Merry Christmas
Those cookies look ultra yummy! I may have to make some tonight
Thanks for sharing!
Loved your frugal Christmas decor! Sorry about your Grandpa’s house and I’m glad you were able to save those items. The kiddos are so cute! My daughter is named Savanna too (she’ll tell you it’s without an h!). Thanks for the tour!

Thanks for coming & linking to me too! I loved ALL your trees…how fun!
I love your home! I was getting upset with all of the fancy decorations that I hope to have but just can’t afford. I like your “frugal” ideas. That’s what I’ll call mine too- instead of my “I’m too cheap” decorations.
I wish I could find a ceramic tree like that. My grandparents had one when I was a little girl and I loved it! What a treasure to have.

THANK YOU SO MUCH FOR THE SWEET COMMENT ABOUT MY CHRISTMAS DECOR! YOUR DECOR IS FABULOUS! I especially love the outside seashell tree! Very original and cute!! The glass tree w/ the little lights reminds me of my mom b/c she has a big green one that’s like that from her mother. Love it!

Thank you for stopping by my tour! And I love the outside tree. Just wondering if you keep it on the porch out of the elements or if it does ok rain or shine (or freezing cold with a chance of snow in Oklahoma).

@robinstorch - I keep it outside, rain or shine, it’s been out there for two years and so far so good. It sits under the patio but close enough to the outside that it gets wet and cold and all that yuck *lol* I figure it won’t last as long outside as it would inside but I got a great deal on it at a yard sale….. I’ll enjoy it as long as it holds up
Hi! Thanks for stopping by earlier!
I love the idea of so many trees–maybe someday we’ll have more than one as well!
Looks just lovely, and those cookies look delish!
I like all your decorations – - – but here are some things that I LOVE THE BEST:
Your front door/entryway. That color and the contrast of the white woodwork – - – - really really really GOOD.
The dining area. I LOVE the way the table is and those windows.
Hope you have a BERRY merry Christmas.
It’s all beautiful!! This year I am hoping to find some sales on trees the day after Christmas so I can buy one for Katie and one for David. I’ve been buying them each ornaments every year so they will have a collection to take when them when they are grown, but for now we just add them to the tree in the family room. I love the idea of lots of smaller trees throughout the house, but I really love your outside tree – the shells and starfish are so cool!! Thanks so much for sharing these with us!
I love the greenery on your banister. It makes me wish our house was two stories!

I love, love, LOVE your frugal Christmas deals! Thanks so much for sharing your lovely home with us! I’m going to steal that idea of getting Christmas ornaments when you go on vacation–what a wonderful way to remember where you’ve been (and so much better than ANOTHER t-shirt or dustcatcher).
Thanks for the comment – your home looks wonderful too!
Thanks for sharing! I have a ceramic tree that my great-grandmother made and gave to me 30 years ago. I did not put it out this year, but it is my favorite Christmas decoration I own. Glad to hear you were able to save yours!
Thank you for the comment!
I love all your Christmas decorations. The pictures of your kids making gingerbread houses are precious. I’ve never made a gingerbread house before. It’s something I’ll definately have to do! =]
Jordan
Thanks for sharing your lovely holiday home and all of the wonderful ‘finds’! Merry Christmas!
Love all the trees! We have a gingerbread tradition at our house that are a main part of our decorations! You shop like I do! Have a great Christmas!
I love the nativity scene you have. I’d really like to do that next year. Your home is full of Christmas cheer!
Nell
Beautiful decorations! Love your ideas and deals! Merry Christmas to you and your family!
Love the decor & ALL your Christmas trees! Especially the one on the back patio! How fun is that!
Blessings!
Thank you for stopping by my blog. I LOVE your house and all your decorations. My plan is next year Kiera will have her own tree too. After christmas sales. My older two are grown and it’s just Kiera and myself now and we are kind of starting it all over doing it OUR way. Your gingerbread house was cute. Kiera’s dad helped with hers and well he is quite ANALYTICAL, so that explains how cute. He does the frosting and kiera did the candy.
Have a wonderful blessed Christmas.
Your patio tree is amazing! I love the night shots when everything is all lit up…just beautiful. I am all about frugality as well, so I enjoyed hearing about some of your awesome deals.
Your kids are so cute! I have a Savannah too…she is almost 3, so looks a little younger than yours. Merry Christmas!
I LOVE that you have all those trees! LOVE it! I would like to do that too…and I had planned on getting some good steals this year after Christmas has passed.
My absolute favorite thing you have is that ceramic tree…we had one when I was growing up, and I’ve been thinking about it forever, wanting to ask Mom what she’s done with it. I don’t think she displays it anymore. I would love it for my kids…I know they would enjoy it just the way I did.
So beautiful–thanks for sharing!
Thanks for sharing your home and your decorations.
Merry Christmas to you and yours from Northern Ireland.
Fun decorations. Thanks for your comment on my post as well. We got that same gingerbread house kit this year.
Your home is beautiful! Thanks for visting my blog.
Christmas blessings,

Thanks for stopping by my blog, I wasn’t prepared to do a tour or anything, however, the few pic I had on my blog already, I thought would be ok to share. Love your Christmas decor.
I would never have enough storage room for all your collection. Your home is done very tastefully.Cricket

Very Pretty….
This touring is fun! Sure would like to have some of those cookies
Sweet Blessings, and Merry Christmas!
DeeDee
WOW!!!!and then some!!!!
Your home is beautifully decorated! The tree outside is very unique…I like it! I have a ceramic tree similar to the one you recovered from your grandpa’s house. It needs replacement bulbs…where did you find them?
I love the shell and starfish tree, and the glass container full of shells out on the patio! I also like to get ornaments when we go on vacation. We are in a new house this Christmas, and I think our living room is a similar color, and the fireplace is set up similarly, so it was interesting to see how you set up the room as we are still unpacking. Thanks for the tour!
Your outside tree is my favorite, but all of it is very nice! Merry Christmas!!!
Loved this. Do you live in a warm climate cause we could never take deck pics here in the snow. You’re home looks all cozy and the kids look they are making wonderful memories. I see you homeschool. I do too and am always glad to find more homeschool blogs!
