  • Superbowl Sunday!!!

Just kidding, I couldn't care less about the superbowl, this year or the last 10   I take that back, the year the Colts played and won was pretty cool as Fred is from Indy.

Not much out of the ordinary going on, just staying busy with regular old life   I did get my hair cut and colored TWICE last week.  First blonde like always with 5 inches cut off and then 3 days later another 3ish inches to take me shorter than I've been in 20 plus years.  The back is at earlobe length and the sides are at my chin, it's also not blonde anymore, it's light brown mocha.  Fred loves it, I like it too just need to get used to it.  I can't wash it for another 24 hours so as soon as I can wash and style I'll take a picture for those of you who might be interested.

I'm still slightly addicted to facebook.  I've reconnected with 75 plus friends from way back when, I've enjoyed catching up with people I haven't seen in close to 20 years.  I think I told you all last time that Fred opened a facebook account as well.  He's not as addicted as me but he humors me when I talk about how much fun it is and kidnaps me at least once a day

We went to the SPCA this afternoon to adopt a dog, found the perfect dog, a beautiful Chow mix, very good with the kids and other dogs.  We bond with him, fill out all the paper work, pay the $109.00 fee and prepare to leave.  Fred takes him outside with the kids and we're all ready to take our new dog home when..... They tell me that they found an existing chip (an id chip) in the dog that they hadn't found before and we wouldn't be able to pick her up until they confirmed that she didn't belong to anyone else.  Savannah cried, I just had to walk out, the lady tells me "This never happens"  Well hello, apparently it happens, I'm standing here and it's happening to me!  We'll find out tomorrow if we can pick him up, I'll either be picking him up tomorrow or my $109!

Other than that not much going on. I did finish painting, I'll take some pictures to share soon.  Trey's doing well in school, we're getting ready to buy our 5th grade curriculum and I've started a little bit of "formal" school with Savannah.  Speaking of school my Mom has started her Massage Therapist training and I'm SO enjoying being her guinea pig   Friday night I enjoyed a 30 minute massage, it's going to be so nice having a massage therapist just across the street!

  • OCD and the small plaster/paint repair.....

What started as a small plaster repair and touch up paint job has turned into 9 gallons of paint in the back of my SUV!  Welcome to my life!

Last night I noticed a piece of plaster missing from the arch in my family room, about the size of a quarter.

I asked "Anybody know how this happened???"

Dear Sweet Husband says.... "oh, I did that, it was bubbled (?) out and when I tried to push it back in..... it fell off"

HUH?  It fell off?  and you didn't feel the need to mention that you BROKE my wall?    WELL~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~

Here's how my mind works, notice I haven't always been this way, I'm not sure what happened?

I grab the putty this morning and go to work fixing the arch.  After said arch is puttied (is that a word?) I realize that I'm in "paint mode" and need to let the arch dry for at least a few hours before I can sand it so what can I paint in the mean time????????????????????????

Next thing I know the kids and I are on our way home from Home Depot with 6 gallons of paint for the master bedroom/sitting area/and master bath.  3 gallons of paint for Savannah's bedroom and closet.  And of course the gallon I needed to touch up the ARCH!~

I'll be painting ALL WEEK!  I finished 2 walls in Savannah's room tonight, should finish it by noon tomorrow and then I'll start of my bedroom.  I'm loving Savannah's room and you know I took before pic's, I'll share them all later this week.  (assuming I survive the week?!?)

  • 2009 happenings.....

I didn't post any Resolutions this year but I have been working on some things in my personal and home life.  After many years of trying to figure out how to keep my home as clean and neat as I'd like it I've finally figured out the secret.....

You work your butt off, maybe when the kids are older it gets easier, maybe not, all I know is that there is no secret.   You just work from sun up till sun down.  Not that I've seen sunrise in a very long time (thanks to my hard working husband)  but you get the drift   I've also found that all this work helps with weight loss, another thing I'm working on for the New Year.

Homeschooling is going well, we've been back at it full swing for a little over 2 weeks.  Just when I started to exhale thinking how smoothly things were going I realized that Savannah is almost 5! Very soon I'm going to have to work more than a little "fun school" for her into our routine.  I don't know how people with more than 2 kids do it!  I know it probably would have worked out a little easier had Trey and Savannah been closer in age but I'll have to smack Fred for that later   It was his idea to wait, he had lots of reasons why it was best, I can't remember one of them now?    Trey's worked extra hard Monday thru Thursday in order to have Friday's off the last couple weeks, maybe working harder with Savannah on Friday's would work for a while. We'll see.

Last weekend we took the kids to Incredible Pizza.  Fred and Savannah won a First Place ribbon in the go cart race.

And here are some pic's of Trey modeling the Fruit Roll-up's we choose.

I'm not sure there will be any left come Valentines Day but they're enjoying them now

In other news I've found a new way to spend time online, my new addiction is Facebook, too much fun.  I've reconnected with lots of friends I haven't seen sense high school and I LOVE Kidnap.  I Love kidnap so much that I talked Fred into getting a Facebook account so that he could kidnap me  Now that's true love, he opened a facebook account so he could help me kick kidnap butt.    If any of you have a facebook account message me and I'll add you as a friend.  and then I'll promptly kidnap you. (just ask Kat!)

  • Happy Anniversary Fred!!

It's not our Wedding Anniversary, that happens in March,  14 years.  But it is my sweeties 10th anniversary at work.  He's been with the same company for 12 years, the first 2 years he was there as a consultant.  They are taking him to lunch here, the San Antonio location is located in the Tower of America's building.  I've asked him to take me here every wedding anniversary that we've spent in San Antonio and every year I change my mind at the last minute.  I think I'm like Tony who said "I'm not afraid of heights, I'm afraid of falling"    Maybe I wont chicken out this year, we'll see.  I'm very proud of you Fred, your a hard worker and a wonderful provider, you spoil us all but like you love to say, "I'd live under a bridge with you!"

In other news, we started back to school on Monday after a long holiday break.  Trey is doing great, we're concentrating on his weak subjects, handwriting and spelling and will continue until March when he will start 5th grade.  I'm sure I've said this before but for those of you who are new to my blog  We homeschool year round with our new year starting in March.  There are several reasons for the March time frame but the biggest reason is that dh gets a bonus in February and that's the best time for me to shop for new curriculum.

Savannah is doing a little "fun school" but for the most part I spend most of my day moving her from one activity to another so Trey can concentrate on his assignments.  She's right on track for her age so we're good

Fred was home the entire week of Christmas and New Years, he just went back to work on Monday.  We spent lots of good quality family time, a great way to start the new year.  We took the kids to the Magic Time Machine one night and bowling another, we also spent several nights in front of the fire watching movies.  How did you spend the first week of 2009?

Yep, I don't make it into many photos but I'm all over video tape, that's Fred filming me taking a picture of him.

Can you tell how delighted Trey is to have his picture taken in the New Years Hat *lol*  And YES, that is DH dancing at a few minutes past midnight and NO, he didn't have a sip of alcohol, he says he's "high on life"!

  • Bye Bye 2008

Wow, I started a Year in Review with pictures and, well I just got carried away.  One thing I'm sure of is that I took more pictures in 2008 than any other year I can remember.  I almost decided I didn't want to bore you with pictures most of you have already seen but then I thought, well they don't HAVE to look   Although I can guarantee a surprise if you pay close attention, something I did this year that only one of you know's about (Kat)   Pay close attention though as i won't draw attention to it, you'll just have to find it!  Let me know if you figure it out, some of you will be shocked, some of you who know me in real life..... maybe not so much

2008 was one of our best years as a family, for several different reasons, or maybe no reason at all, this year saw us grow closer as a family.  2008 saw Fred and I grow closer as a couple, I love my family with all my heart and look forward to spending lots of time making lots more memories with them in 2009.  So without further ado, here are some of my favorite 2008 moments.

    Birthday's and celebrations.....

We visited Tony at his new apartment in Houston for a couple days this summer, then we spent 4 days in Galveston (our first time there) just before Ike changed the landscape there for ever.

This picture of Fred makes me laugh every time I see it, we were in SC moving my Mom's things into the back of a U-haul, we were both about to die!  I didn't notice the "sign" on the wall until later.

We took a few weekend trips this summer to Houston, Galveston, and Austin and then a Huge vacation out west in October.  We also took a week long trip to SC to close on my Mom's house and move her things to TX.  We traveled more in 2008 than in the two years prior put together.

    Extended Family.....

My Mom sold her house after a little over a year on the market and bought a house 1.7 miles from us in a nice little gated subdivision.  My brother moved here about 3 months ago, it's nice to have family close after so many years of living 1200 miles apart.

Well that's my Year in Review, hope I didn't bore you too much and I hope if I did you at least found out my secret of 2008   Were you shocked?  He was!    maybe I'll explain the story behind it later.  I hope you all have a safe and fun end of 2008 and a Wonderful and Blessed 2009.  We're celebrating at home tonight around the New Years tree.  For those of you who wanted to see pic's, here it is.  This was my first year doing the New Years tree, the kids loved it and Dh even commented on it, it's a tradition that'll stick
